This barrel-aged bière de garde was brewed with toasted willow bark for soft notes of brown sugar and clove that gently complement its smooth caramel-like maltiness. It was aged on oak for 20 months, creating a hint of vanilla from the wood. We fermented it with Mud King, a blend of wild yeasts from all over the world that composed extraordinarily fruity aromas in this beer. 27,71 €"bzart Kriekenlambiek Brut Nature is a sparkling pure brut quality beverage based on ”Kriekenlambiek Oud Beersel” (cherry Lambic of Oud Beersel) which is a craft beer produced according to the traditional rules of the “Méthode Classique”. Cherry Lambic is a Belgian spontaneous fermentation beer made of Lambic to which sour cherries are added. The used “Kriekenlambiek Oud Beersel” is traditionally brewed with real sour cherries and with Lambic Oud Beersel that matured in wooden barrels. It contains some 400 grams of sour cherries a litre which is unique in its kind. This kriekenlambiek is bottled and then the “Méthode Classique” (Classic Method) is applied during several months. This means that after adding sugar and a sparkling wine yeast, the “liqueur de tirage”, this kriekenlambiek is re-fermented. 10,37 €"In the past Port wine was shipped to the harbours of Bruges and Antwerp on wooden barrels of 650 liters, called ‘pipes’ or ‘pijpen’ in Dutch. Some of these barrels were purchased by Lambic breweries and have contained Lambic for many generations. Some barrels have been circulating in other, some defunct, Lambic breweries before finding their final place in the barrel cellars of Oud Beersel. We have blended the finest Lambics of on average 20 months old matured on these ‘old pipes’ of between 60 and 120 years old, to create an Oude Geuze with the characteristics of these old barrels."
